Plant & machinery finance FAQs
What does pre-approval actually give me?
A facility letter setting out a proposed budget for the machine. This is not guaranteed funding: the lender must approve the purchase and its conditions must be met before payment.
Can you finance used and older plant?
Yes. Lenders look at the machine's age at the end of the term, so older kit usually means a shorter term or a larger deposit.
Can I use my pre-approval at an online auction or with a dealer?
Yes. Pre-approval works for live auctions, online timed sales and dealer purchases.
Do I need a deposit?
Usually, yes. The amount depends on the machine, its age and your business.
Does the finance cover the buyer's premium and VAT?
The buyer's premium can often be included. VAT is normally paid up front or covered by a short-term VAT loan, depending on the lender.
How fast can the seller be paid?
Once you're pre-approved and we have the invoice, the lender pays the seller directly, usually in time for a 48-hour auction deadline.
Is there a fee for pre-approval?
No. We're paid by the lender, and there's no obligation to go ahead.
